About the Project

Welcome to the Sweet Pea Project

a volunteer run, federally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization

3/21/24

We are in our 16th year now, here at Sweet Pea Project. For 16 years we have poured our hearts and souls into this work, we have held dozens and dozens of community events, and donated thousands upon thousands of books and blankets to hospitals in all 50 states and 8 countries. We have mothered our children’s memories into almost adulthood. My little sweet pea, Madeline, would be turning 18 next January. Mark would turn 18 the very next month, and Max would be following along in just a few years. We’ve done the work, and it has been beautiful and brutal and rewarding beyond words and the absolute honor of a lifetime. And, at the end of this year, we will step aside and make space for the next generation of devoted parents to step up and seek out their unique paths and build something all their own for this community in memory of their children. But don’t worry, we’re not going to sneak out quietly. We are committed to continuing to care for this community throughout this year, bringing you our 13th Annual Picnic in June (watch for registration to open very soon for that), our 15th Annual Remembrance Gathering in October, and we’ll close out the year with a rollerskating party to thank our friends, our family, everyone who has ever volunteered, ever donated to us, or ever supported us in any way. Please keep following us on social media to stay updated on all this year will bring, please keep an eye out for the new shirt designs we’ll be offering for each event, please come out to the Kat’s 5k because that race funds our work more than anything else we do and we want to be able to put on some really meaningful events for you, one last time. Thank you for believing in us for the last 16 years, thank you for allowing us the privilege of being a part of your children’s remembrance and for being a part of our community. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime. Thank you.

With so much love,

Stephanie, Beth, & Nicole
